nu and wash u (lyn)

Another early day.  By 7, we have all piled into Hazel's car.   Not only has she graciously let us stay with her for two days, but now she’s taken off a day from work so she can drive us to Northwestern, tour with us, and then drive us to O'Hare.  But the extra time we get to spend with her is pure fun.  It always is with Hazel.

We decide to eat breakfast at the school.  Since Hazel is also on WW, you'd think we'd be positive influences on each other.  We're not.  I order a single crepe filled with strawberry jam.  It's too good to qualify as healthy.

Alexander and I love Northwestern, even more than we expected we would.  He cannot find one thing he doesn't like about the school.  I just wish it were not a plane ride away.  Alexander can definitely see himself as a student here.  But the more critical question is of course, can the admissions staff see him as a student here?

We go to the info session but have to cut short the tour.  Even then, we almost miss our flight to St. Louis. It's only an hour and uneventful.  The best kind of flight.  We arrive and it's 100 degrees.  Horrible.  I'd rather it be 10 degrees and snowing.

Tomorrow we have an info session, tour, open house, and interview at Wash U, and the weather is expected to be the same.  But despite the heat, we are anxious to see the school and decide to go over for a late lunch.  We get there around 3.  I think this is the longest Alexander has gone without eating.  He's like a newborn.  Every two hours he needs to be fed.

The campus is absolutely gorgeous.

Perfectly manicured lawns everywhere.  Magnificent architecture outside and pristine, stunning interiors.  Even the dining hall is beautiful.  Built two years ago, the high-beamed multi-colored ceilings have that old-perfectly-preserved look.  Leather chairs everywhere.  A fireplace.  And many different food stations.  We split a Caesar salad and we each have a slice of pizza.  Alexander declares the salad as, "the best Caesar I've ever had."  That's it.  He's sold on Wash U.
