pam's lunch (lyn)

Five of us girls (I don’t like the word ladies and women sounds too grown up) have lunch to celebrate Pam’s birthday.  Shari has chosen wisely (as she always does).  We meet at The Mark Restaurant, described as offering an “innovative menu specially crafted by Manhattan’s pre-eminent chef, the award-winning Jean-Georges Vongerichten.”  It’s less pretentious than it sounds.

The meal starts with two small pizzas, one a basic tomato, mozzarella and basil; the other, a more exotic black truffle with fortina cheese.  Small, expensive, and excellent.  We all order salads as a main course.  These are ample sized.  The ingredients are nothing unusual (chopped lettuce, avocado, apple, pecan, blue cheese), although the avocado inclusion could have been more accurately described as a “hint of” as only one teeny tiny cube is discovered amongst all the greens.

The talk is kids, college, and the upcoming holidays.  I’m sure there is more we discuss in our two-hour lunch, but mostly it ‘s the warm ambiance of friendship that is most satisfying.
