the last supper (m)

It was the end of a long week...early rises, tough practices, stressful competitions, crazy weather (floods, tornados, high heat and humidity).  The event was over at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.  H skated his best all week, made it through to the final rounds and placed well.

Just when I thought we could leave the rink, H's coach informs him that he has a technical feedback session.  Three Olympic judges and him.  They scrutinized his every move, suggesting ways to improve and applauding the things he does well.

I couldn't take it any more.  I went to the vending machine and got a Three Musketeers bar.  I checked out the points...too many.

I opened the bar, took a bite and gave the rest to my husband (who had flown down that morning for the evening event).  He inhaled his portion.

Finally, around 9 p.m., we were free to go.

We asked another skater and his mother to join us for dinner.  We all agreed, "something healthy."

I remembered a restaurant next to the spa that looked like something I know in Cambridge....Harvest, it's called.

Unlike the chain restaurants we had been seeing all week, this one was sophisticated and stylish.  We sat down and the waiter arrived at our table.

Waiter:  Are you familiar with the concept of this restaurant?
Us: No...we have never been here before.
Waiter: Well, we only serve food made from locally grown/raised sources.  Every dish is low in fat and under 500 calories.

We looked at the menu.  Everything on it was appealing to us.

The prices were reasonable.  I had pork tenderloin, T had a vegetable soup heaping with vegetables and a grilled chicken over lettuce and vegetables.  Harrison and Ross had chicken they said was "phenomenal" and Ross's mother had a salad and soup.

A perfect ending to a memorable week.
