I meet Jill and we see Bright Star, the story of John Keats and his love affair with Franny Brawne. Jill loves it; I don’t. It feels like Love Story without the story. On my way home I pass Saks which is still open. I stop in. Check out the shoes. Buy nothing.
I think about taking a cab home. This way, I rationalize, I’ll get to Agata’s before they close at 8:30. I decide instead to take the subway and still get to Agata on time.
Just as I am entering the store, Alexander calls and tells me he’s ordering in a burger and fries. It’s been so long since I’ve had either. But then I think how well I’ve been doing, and Thanksgiving is only two weeks away. So I enter Agata, buy some Chilean sea bass, grilled tomatoes, and brussel sprouts. Maybe not as satisfying as the burger and fries, but still, a much better choice.
