a word about and to M (lyn)

Though we talk every day, I haven’t seen M since August.  I just read her post from yesterday and feel compelled to respond publicly. It is not surprising that she would be so hard on herself.  But 24 pounds is a lot of weight, by any standard.  So, a few things:
M has done an outstanding job of finding the right clothes for her body shape.  She mostly wears black pants with an elastic waist and a tunic-type top.  So of course no one is going to notice the weight loss except in her face.  Yes, it will take awhile for the loss to be really noticed since the weight that has been there has always been so well camouflaged.
Most people don’t really notice the details of others.  Ask a good friend to tell you what color your eyes are and most will likely not know.
I found a picture of M from 2007 and put it next to a picture of her from last month and the difference is truly significant.
Of course we are losing weight most importantly for ourselves, but it is motivating when others notice.  So M, though I haven’t seen you in almost three months, I know, with absolute certainty, that you are smaller than you were, with much smaller yous to come.
