I went food shopping today and deliberately put two ten-pound sacks of potatoes and one five-pound bag of sugar in my cart. I lifted them up and tried to hold all three items at one time. They were very heavy.
I walked a few feet away from the cart and looked back. Yup, you definitely could see them.
So why don't I notice my own twenty-four pound weight loss? I see it in my face a little, but not anywhere else.
I got home and saw that my older brother, Joe, called. He and my sister-in-law would be in our neighborhood this afternoon and wanted to know if we would be home. I invited them to dinner. They said they heard about my diet and couldn't wait to see me. I told them not to get too excited.
They arrive and I can tell they are trying their best to notice a difference. Finally, my brother says: "maybe your face...a little?"
This is going to take forever.
