weight-in/way down, sort of (lyn)

I get to the WW meeting today and begin stripping down in preparation for my weigh-in.  I take off my heavy winter coat, my hooded sweater, my boots, and my watch. If it were allowed, I'd probably remove all but my underwear.  One of the thinnest girls there looks at me and says, “I can see that you had a good holiday. Your stomach is flat and your ass is flat.  You really look great.”  And she makes me feel even better.

I get on the scale and Robin tells me that I’m down 1.2 pounds.  My expectations have been adjusted and now I think that losing a pound or more is very good.  So I’m happy.

The next phase is going to be a lot harder:  a serious commitment to becoming fit and toned.  The last time I worked out regularly was twenty years ago.  But just from exercising (albeit 5 times a week or more), I went from 135 pounds to 115 in about 8 months.  I am not planning to get to 115, and would be happy at 125 or so, but I definitely need to be more dedicated to working out.  Eating less is a lot easier for me than exercising more.

I'm thinking, eight more pounds and then I'll get serious about exercising.  I still have the excuse of weather (it has been very cold) and money (too expensive to join a gym).  Or maybe I'm just fabricating reasons to avoid doing something I don't want to do.
